When I start following someone on the internet (blogs, YouTube, IG, etc) I begin to ask myself questions like, “how does she get her hair to look that soft?” or “how many shades of lipstick does she own? And which is her favorite?” I’m sure you all do the same! We want to look just as fabulous as the girl right next to us, but we are not always comfortable reaching out with beauty questions. Or we don’t know where to start!
‘The Beauty Tag’ was created for bloggers to ask one another 8 questions regarding their beauty routines and preferences as an opportunity to get answers for those burning questions, learn about new products, and network with other like-minded ladies in the blogging community.
Katelyn, from Katelyn Blogs, answered 8 beauty questions asked by Alessia from Haute and Houndstooth. Today I am answering 8 of Katelyn’s questions… Here’s what she wants to know:
1. Do you remember your first makeup product?
I remember playing in my mother’s makeup with my sister when we were young- we would apply a sloppy layer of eyeshadow and lipstick, then wash it off and try new shades. The first product that I remember my mom giving me was a color changing lip balm, which at the time I had considered the coolest thing since sliced bread!
2. What is your Holy-Grail foundation?
I like a few different foundations, but I always seem to fall back on the Covergirl Outlast 3 in 1. I love that it comes with a pump, plus it gives a really natural finish and wears really well throughout the day.
3.Fake eyelashes- yay or no way?
I think falsies can be really intimidating at first. I remember trying to apply them for my senior prom and struggling for several minutes before giving up on them all together. I have since given them a few chances to redeem themselves and I think I’ve almost mastered the art of application. So, yay for flash lashes! They look so beautiful once you get them on just right, but I save them for special occasions.
4. Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Both pencil and liquid liners have their place in my beauty routine. I stick to liquid liner when it comes to my top lid (you can get a more precise wing!) and I reserve pencil liners for my waterline.
5. If you could leave the house using just one makeup item, what would it be and why?
I’ve had a few mornings where I’ll be getting ready and I’ll have applied a full face of makeup and walked out the door without applying mascara. Despite the fact that the rest of my face looks on point, I’ll feel naked and self conscious all day without accentuated eyelashes. If I were limited to a single product I think it would have to be mascara.
6. Do you prefer brushes, or sponges for makeup application?
I go back and forth on this one… but I tend to reach for my Beauty Blender more often than my foundation brushes mostly because I have dry skin. Application with a sponge adds more moisture to my face whereas application with a brush tends to accentuate my dry patches.
7. What is your most cherished beauty product?
This is probably the most difficult question to answer, all of my products and tools are my babies! There are quite a few products that I use and repurchase regularly, but I couldn’t choose a most cherished!
8. What is your favorite beauty tip or trick?
Currently my favorite beauty trick is mixing beauty oil into my foundation before application.I find that this really helps achieve a smooth and slightly dewy finish that I’m loving for Spring and Summer. Plus, it provides my dry skin with a bit more nourishment and moisture.
And that’s a wrap! I tag Hannah from The Sweet Sunshine, and Jasmine from Jasmine Wore What to answer the following questions:
1. How many beauty products do you use in your every day routine?
2. What product (or tool!) could you not live without?
3. Are you most adventurous with your lip color, or your eye makeup?
4. When did you start wearing makeup?
5. What is your favorite way to pamper yourself, and what products do you use?
6. If you only had time for one, would you do your makeup, or would you do your hair?
7. Where do you usually purchase your beauty products, and why?
8. Do you have a no-fail beauty brand? (aka a brand that never lets you down)
I look forward to hearing your responses!

This comment is SO late, but I loved reading your tag, Rachael! I LOVE my beauty blender too…it's so much faster for me than a brush! And I just tried mixing oil in with my foundation last week, I loved the glowy look it gave! Great post! 🙂
