Washington has finally gotten the memo that it is officially Summer! The temps aren’t nearly as high as what I was growing accustomed to in AZ, but for the Seattle area we are being blessed with a beautiful forecast.
I love the Summer time, and I especially love Summer fashion. Between pineapples, flamingos, and tassels what’s not to love? And let’s not forget pom-poms! Getting dressed in the Summer is always a fun experience with all of the bright colors, embellishments, and patterns.
One print that I always associate to Summer is gingham. Gingham makes me think of beautiful, warm, sunny days spent outside barbecuing or picnicking, surrounded by friends and family and having a good time. All things that I look forward to doing this Summer!
With July 4th just around the corner we are working on finalizing our plans for the day, and the traditional blue and white check pattern is an obvious choice for the occasion. Independence Day has become a day for celebration of more than just freedom since Taylor’s dad remarried last year, so I’m looking forward to a long day of fun outside with my in-laws!
Comfort is something that has to take precedence in my outfit choice when attending events like an outdoor family gathering, so when I found this easy gingham shirtdress on clearance at Old Navy I purchased it without thinking twice! It’s made of a comfortable, breathable cotton and the silhouette is classic and forgiving. The belted waist adds an extra feminine touch and highlights your waist just enough. For me, this is the perfect gingham dress for Summer!
A classic staple like gingham is perfectly paired with red ballet flats and pearls. For an added punch of interest and color I topped off this look with a bright floral clutch that will hold just what I need without weighing me down.
This gingham number is sold out online, but check your store’s clearance rack! I’m linking similar shirtdresses in the tool below along with everything you need to recreate this look.
Adorable dress! I'm a huge fan of mixing colors and patterns, and you did it beautifully with the dress and clutch. Looks great! …Carey (www.drewandalice.com)
