Self isolation is something that we have all experienced in some form or another. But Quarantine? That’s unfamiliar territory, even for an introvert. The time we have been forced to spend at home is not something that any one could prepare for, and personally it has taught me a few lessons. What have I learned from Quarantine 2020?
I don’t have too many pillows or blankets
Contrary to Taylor’s belief, I can confidently declare that I do indeed use all of my pillows and blankets. For years he has hinted that we had more than necessary for our home… but I have proven during quarantine that there is actually never enough.
Snacks don’t last long in my house
To quote The Grinch: “Am I just eating because I’m bored?” Yes, yes I am. And so is Taylor! Note: don’t leave the snacks near your husband, he will eat them faster than you.
My dog is living her best life
We probably have one of the laziest and neediest dogs ever… Mocha spends most of her days lounging as it is, but she is always begging for attention. Having mom and dad at home all day is her dream come true.
I really like going to the couple of places I like to go to
Never have I ever wanted to go to Target, TJ Maxx, or Homegoods more! Aside from my retail withdrawals I have a running list of restaurants that I can’t wait to dine in again. Chips and salsa at home taste nowhere near as good as our favorite local Mexican restaurant.
I need a charging case for my phone
A charging cord is not conducive to the various ways I want to lay on the couch, nor is ever it conveniently in reach. Battery low messages are annoying obstacles to the random Youtube videos I’m watching and they interrupt my Instagram scrolling. I’ve learned that I need a charging case to make it through a day in Quarantine.
I could probably reduce my wardrobe by at least 50%
The door to my closet room hasn’t been opened in almost a month. Whatever is in there I can’t say that I remember… Should I just get rid of a lot of it? Yes. But will I ever? Let’s be honest, even if I do I’ll still have more than I need!

I should invest in more lounge wear
About 99% of my time at home is spent in sweatpants and old T shirts or oversized sweatshirts. Most of these have been around for a long, long time and almost of them do not match. I want to be able to live my laziest, coziest life without looking like a hobo. This tee shirt from Femme Luxe Finery has been a welcome addition to my loungewear collection, and I’m looking at some of their other loungewear pieces too.
Coffee is for any time of day
Who else looses sense of time when you’re hanging around at home? My favorite morning motivator became my afternoon pick-me-up and my evening energy during Quarantine.
I don’t make enough money to support my online shopping habit
So many retailers have been promoting amazing sales during Quarantine, and I have been shopping for all the things! Unfortunately, my wallet doesn’t appreciate these sales as much as I do because I’ve been breaking out the credit cards often enough to get a few packages every week… oops!
My house is too big
For context, Taylor and I are renting a 2,600 square foot home with our cousin. We feel really fortunate to have the opportunity to live in this home! But this Quarantine realization comes two-fold… One: I’m home long enough every day to make messes, and I DON’T WANT TO CLEAN THIS PLACE. Two: We practically use 1/4 of the house on a regular basis. The bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and media room are home.
Quarantine has taught me many things, and it’s been fun to share these! I’d love to hear what you have learned during Quarantine 2020, leave a comment below. Also, thank you Femme Luxe Finery for supplying the looks in this post
