Let’s make a Holloween Boo Basket!
Halloween isn’t typically a gift-giving holiday, but have you ever heard of boo-ing? Considering the climate this year, most Halloween festivities, like trick-or-treating, will be avoided. This is the perfect time to start up a new tradition: boo-ing!
Boo-ing is a Halloween tradition when you leave a gift on a neighbor’s or friend’s porch. It’s really fun, and a contactless activity.

building the halloween boo basket
Start with your container- fill the base with packing paper. This step is very important! This will provide stability and height for the items you’ll include in the basket. Next, layer the spooky cheesecloth over the paper to disguise it. Leave the edges hanging over the basket.
Fill the top with some basket filler, add the battery operated light strand, then more basket filler. You want the lights to be intertwined within the basket filler. Wherever you leave the battery pack will be the back of the basket.
I purchased all of the items for our Boo Baskets at the Dollar Tree, Michaels, Target, TJ Maxx, and Walgreens. In each basket I included the best Halloween movie, “Hocus Pocus,” and a few other items following a theme for each basket. One basket being “spooky spiked drinks” and the other “dinner and a movie.”
When filling your Boo Basket, start with taller items in the back first. Fill space or hollow items with smaller pieces like candy, food, or drinks.
Decorate your Boo Basket after it’s filled! I lined the edge of my buckets with garland for more color.
