Spring 2016 Fashion Trends to Follow

March 19, 2016

We’ve all heard that Pantone selected Rose Quartz and Serenity as the colors of the year, so naturally they have been finding their way into fashion this year. Pastel shades have been gaining major popularity for Spring, but don’t stop there! I’m rounding up some of the best Spring 2016 trends. You may have already spotted a few of these in stores, be sure to add some to your closet!

Remember: just because something is on trend, does not mean that you have to wear it! Some of this years Spring fashions are not within the comfort zone of the average woman… but I’ve listed 10 trends that I can totally get behind (and that you should too!)

The season officially begins March 20th, but we’ve already set our clocks forward so why not dress for Spring now?

Spring fashion is drawing major inspiration from the 1970’s! The following trends have graced the runways of several of today’s most influential designers.

1. Suede

Break out your suede jacket and keep rocking that suede mini skirt you purchased last year, because those babies aren’t going anywhere this season! Afraid of suede? Start small and incorporate the fabric into your Spring wardrobe with a handbag or a pair of booties.

2. Ruffles

This ultra feminine style influence is easy to wear, and easy to incorporate into your closet. Try a ruffled neckline, a ruffled hem, or a ruffled sleeve.

3. Cold Shoulders

Show a little skin in shoulder baring tops and off-the-shoulder varieties. These tops go with everything and will transition through Summer as well.

4. Maxi Dresses

Release your inner bohemian with romantic maxi dresses. You’ll be cute, on trend, and extremely comfortable in the mild Spring weather.

5. Fringe

Fringe adds just the right amount of movement to any outfit. Fringe hemlines are an easy way to transition into this trend, try it on a top or skirt. Or try a fringe jacket, they are ultra stylish (especially in suede!)

6. Big Sleeves

Whether they be bell sleeves, or puffy ‘old English’ sleeves, the full look is in. Rock this trend with embellished boho tops paired with jeans and shorts.

7. Pleats

Crisp, defined pleats are beautiful this Spring. Try a pleated midi skirt, or incorporate the trend with a pretty blouse.

8. Flares

The most distinguishable 70’s trend, the flared jeans, are making a huge comeback! Wear these with layers and long sleeves until the temps rise this Spring, then wear them with tees and cute crop tops.

9. Stripes

Bold stripes are a chic girl’s best friend this Spring. Let them take the stage or mix them with another fun print for a trendy look.

10. Metallic

Shiny metallic finishes in your fabrics and accessories feel ultra luxe. Pull out those pieces that you tend to reserve for the holidays and give them new life this Spring.

What are you excited to wear this Spring? Let me know in the comments!
